In 2368 accepted promotion to commander and post as adjutant to Admiral Mamoru Nakamura, Starbase Commander . Transferred to Starfleet Command, 2370, to serve as adjutant to Admiral Richard Leyton.
In 2372, stardate 41970, promoted to captain of U.S.S. Lakota. Court martialed for attacking U.S.S. Defiant (when she was falsely led to believe its crew had been replaced by Dominion changelings), and for supporting coup attempt on Federation Government by Admiral Leyton. Acquitted of most serious charges. Demoted back to commander for one year before regaining rank and assignment of U.S.S. Appalachia, which fought second Borg incursion to Sector 001 in 2373.
